Towards Inclusion 6-in-1 Card Game Kit

We have launched the first-ever fun card game kit on disability awareness, developed over two years of extensive research and pilot study. Titled “TOWARDS INCLUSION” - this Disability awareness card game kit is aimed at promoting acceptance, familiarizing the user with the world of disability through a playful method, challenging commonly held stereotypes around disability, leading to attitude change.

Snakes and Ladders Floor Game

While growing up, snakes and ladders have been the game for many of us, getting the chance to roll the dice and escape the gigantic snakes to reach the top!

Imagine if you could do the same but, in the process, you are revisiting your attitude and perceptions towards people with disabilities around you. Trinayani, supported by Samam Vidya, is happy to present the interactive version of the classic game of Snakes and Ladders in order to inculcate the value of understanding and respecting the various ways people differ. This fun-filled kinesthetic group activity requires participants to be the pawns in this room-sized game, which is played with an oversized die.

Snakes and Ladder Game to Celebrate Diversities for professionals and employers

Our version features situations written on the board involving values and behaviours, resulting in forwarding or backward motions, and leading to discussions along the way. The idea is to reinforce that, accommodating our fellow citizens and making considerate choices can result in going up the ladder.

We have this S & L game in Hindi, English and Bengali. We also have 2 different versions, one for the academic community and one for the corporate sector.

The Learning Factory

Keeping up with the vision of Trinayani, the inclusion of persons with disabilities is given crucial attention when it comes to learning and teaching. When we talk about diversity in a country like India, we already happen to have many such platforms in terms of ethnicity, culture, etc. So, keeping the diverse culture of education in mind as well, as how each child has different types of skills and potential, we curated a puppet show to help trigger the same.

Our musical puppet show ‘The Learning Factory is based on the popular fable’ ‘The Animal School’ by George Reavis. Replete with 7 songs, it puts a strong front about the fact that not everyone has the same amount or kind of ability. Some people can be different from others and that in any way does not imply that they cannot be acknowledged.

Having showcased the puppet show in many schools, we now, post-Covid, can share the show as a 32 minute long film with interested schools.

Nancy's Move to Delhi

We are all different, some of us are taller, some shorter, some have long hair, some walk and talk differently than we do. Wouldn't it be great to find out more about the many different kinds of people who live on this earth with us? Our story Nancy's move to Delhi is now available for all of you to read from the comfort of your homes at Story Weaver.

Awareness Booklets

Since our chief motive remains awareness, we use several mediums to spread our message.

We regularly publish Disability Awareness booklets which are basically simple pictorial information booklets to:

  • Create awareness, communicate APPROPRIATE INFORMATION on disability issues
  • Remove misinformation and provide appropriate visibility of persons with disabilities.
  • Alter reader’s perspective on the problems and issues faced by persons with disability,
  • Portray messages which convey the fact that Diversity is Good, Diversity is needed and Diversity adds Value to our lives.

Worksheets on Student Sensitization

We at Trinayani have been working on designing literature to introduce our young children to and learn about diversity. The Pdfs below can be used as a teaching tool for the students. These were created to be used as a starting point in developing lessons.

The object of this initiative is to take away the fear and avoidance that comes from facing the unknown and replace it with a comfortable attitude leading to active and compassionate engagement with people different from ourselves.
